So it's been a day of adventures. It seems that the idea of leaving the house at the crack of dawn did succeed in getting a parking spot at Jordan Pond. So we hiked around the pond - beautiful.
On the walk I spotted several signs of beavers, mostly the way trees were felled. But then I saw a beaver den (see pic). Cool.
Next we went to the restaurant for the famous popovers. Let me see if I can describe then for you... Imagine the flavor of a waffle, the shape of a blown up muffin, hollow, and in some spots undercooked. Spread some strawberry jam on it and you have a popover. Perhaps a bit overrated but a decent treat. Maybe there is a reason they are advertising for a pastry chef.
After lunch we drove around the park loop road, and then parked and walked. I saw a green bouy. Or was it a gull? Qua qua...I love that joke.
We stopped at seal cove for a while and just listened to the water. Very nice.
All in all it was a beautiful day. We stayed ahead of the crowds and the weather was swell.
